Artist Statement
For as long as I can remember, art has been my outlet, my solace, my joy. As a child/teen, I enjoyed colored pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink. In college, I studied advertising and design at Syracuse University which allowed me to pursue art and make it into a career. Working in advertising as a graphic designer and art director allowed me to keep art in my life while making a living. As a stay-at-home mom, I happily designed yearbooks and cards and exposed my son's and daughter’s friends to art through crafting.
Now that my kids are grown, I enjoy creating in my professional studio space at The Mill at Shady Lea in North Kingstown. I hold current memberships at Wickford Art Association, Portsmouth Art Guild and South County Art Association. It is also my pleasure to serve on the Board of Directors at Wickford Art Association. My work has been shown in several juried and invitational exhibits, and I am honored to be a part of many private collections.
Oil, cold wax, and collage are my favorite mediums but alcohol ink, charcoal and watercolor have opened my eyes to new possibilities. I’m not quite ready to limit myself to one particular medium or process. The natural world inspires me. The ocean and coastline, the mountains and lakes, flowers, trees, animals. I put passion into my paintings. Whether it be abstract or literal, each piece is created with love. Art is a gift. Thank you for allowing me to share my art with you.
